FRANCIS W. PRICE, JR, MD, INDIANAPOLIS, NAMED
OPHTHALMOLOGIST OF THE YEAR
BY THE INDIANA ACADEMY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY
Francis W. Price, Jr, MD, Indianapolis, was named Ophthalmologist of the Year by the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology (IAO) during its 88th Annual Meeting and Scientific Seminar held on September 16, 2005 at the Ritz Charles in Carmel, Indiana. Dr. Price is the fourteenth recipient of the annual award given for outstanding contributions and service to the IAO and enhancing the profession of ophthalmology. Dr. Price’s long commitment to ophthalmology and the community made him the obvious recipient of the 2005 award.
Dr. Price is being honored for his strengthening of the ophthalmic community, his caring for patients’ needs, and his dedication to ophthalmic education. Among his many achievements, Dr. Price continues to be a teacher and world renowned lecturer. Dr. Price served as President of the IAO from 1990 – 1992. During his term as President, the IAO was named a Model State Society by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for the first time. Dr. Price continues to be active in IAO affairs serving as a valued advisor, being involved on behalf of members in third party issues, and as an advocate with the Legislature and regulatory bodies.
Dr. Price has been in practice since completing his fellowship training in corneal and external diseases at Tulane University following graduation from Notre Dame University and medical school and residency at Indiana University School of Medicine.
The Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology is the voice for ophthalmologists and their patients in Indiana. The Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology represents over 240 Indiana EyeMDs (ophthalmologists). EyeMDs are medical doctors educated, trained, and licensed to provide complete medical and surgical eye care. Ophthalmologists provide comprehensive eye exams, prescribe corrective lenses, prescribe medicines, and perform surgery. |
