Indiana Blade Free LASIK

Our LASIK Technology

Choosing the best LASIK technology will give you better results.

Over the years, LASIK technology has advanced, and so have the outcomes. With each new generation of technology came a solution to a problem old technology couldn’t address. Wider treatment ranges, improved accuracy, improved safety, and better results are just some of the improvements that the most advanced LASIK systems now provide patients.

The problem is, older generations of technology are still approved by the FDA, and are still widespread in centers across the U.S. While this technology is still capable of freeing you from glasses and contacts, your quality of vision and chances of 20/20 or better vision are severely compromised. That’s why it is important to do your research and select a center that invests in the most advanced technology, to ensure yourself the best possible outcome you can achieve.

The lasers used at Price Vision Group are equipped with the latest advancements in LASIK technology, and achieve significantly better results than earlier laser platforms.

WaveLight® FS200: The All -Laser LASIK Procedure

Price Vision Group has once again set the standard in laser vision correction with Indianapolis’ first WaveLight FS200 Femtosecond Laser and the first WaveLight 400 Eye Q Excimer laser system for Custom LASIK. Laser vision correction is often associated solely with the Excimer laser, but there are actually two very important steps in correcting your vision:

  1. Creating a very thin flap of tissue that is folded back during the treatment.
  2. Reshaping the exposed surface with the Excimer laser and closing the flap.

Prior to the development of the femtosecond laser, the flap had been created with a mechanical, bladed device called a microkeratome. The WaveLight FS 200 eliminates the need for a blade and improves safety, enhances precision and improves results for our patients.

Advantages of the WaveLightFS200 FemtosecondAllegretto WaveLight FS200 Laser

Faster Flap Creation
Unlike the blade variability that may occur with more traditional microkeratomes, the WaveLight FS200 Femtosecond Laser is designed for highly precise and predictable outcomes. In fact, when using the WaveLight FS200, Dr. Price can create a flap to your exact needs in approximately 6.0 seconds. Additionally, a flap created with the WaveLight FS200 heals more securely than a flap created by the traditional microkeratome blade, resulting in a flap that is stronger and more resistant to injury.

Precision at Every Moment
Using the WaveLight FS200, Dr. Price is able to customize the size, shape, location, and depth of the flap allowing him to customize the treatment to account for a wider range of surgical considerations and the individual needs of our patients. The traditional style microkeratomes do not account for the curvature of the cornea and create a meniscus style flap, with the edges somewhat thicker than the center. Variations in flap thickness may lead to a variation in your visual outcome. With the WaveLight FS200 we know exactly what depth the flap will be, and we are able to preserve the most corneal tissue following the procedure, leaving each patient with a stronger more stable eye.

Increased Patient Comfort
With traditional LASIK, the flap is created with a device that was fashioned after a carpenter’s plane. With the WaveLight FS200, the laser passes through the cornea and creates small bubbles at pre-programmed, customized depths using laser pulse energy. This allows for decreased pressure on the eye, and when combined with the speed and accuracy of the laser patients experience less discomfort and faster visual recovery after their procedure.

Vision Correction with the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q Excimer Laser System

Earlier Excimer lasers achieved amazing results, but there were limitations in their ability. These included their inability to treat wider ranges of prescription and making many people not candidates for LASIK.

Over the years, new generations of this old Excimer technology improved the results, but they were still variations on the same old technology.

The Allegretto Wave is a completely new laser platform, the newest to receive FDA approval in 2003. The Eye-Q is the latest generation advancement of this technology; meaning the unique characteristics that create your near sightedness (myopia), far sightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism are resolved with the highest degree of accuracy.

The advantages of the Allegretto Wave Excimer laser include:

  • This latest generation is the fastest Excimer laser available, meaning greater accuracy for improved visual results, and a more comfortable procedure.

  • It’s ‘Perfect Pulse®’ technology tracks your eye movements 200 times per second, ensuring the most precise treatment possible.

  • Clinical studies have shown the Allegretto Wave as the only laser that actually improves night vision for many patients.

  • Studies also show the highest result of visual outcomes better than 20/20 compared to other Excimer lasers on the market.

Broad Beam vs. Flying Spot

One secret to the Allegretto Wave’s amazing outcomes is the actual makeup of the laser beam that does the corneal reshaping.

Older LASIK technology uses a laser bean profile called a ‘broad beam.’ This is similar to using a wide paintbrush. Sure it’s fine for large surface areas, but when you’re talking about the microscopic correction of LASIK, it is simply inadequate.

The Allegretto Wave’s ‘flying spot’ laser beam profile is a smaller, finer beam that moves rapidly across the treatment area, laying down precise, microscopic sculpting of the cornea for the most microscopically precise treatment possible.

The Allegretto Wave is approved to treat the widest range of prescriptions possible, with the greatest results recorded to date. If you were ever told you weren’t a candidate for LASIK, you might want to look into it again.

A Completely Custom LASIK Procedure

Custom LASIK

Our commitment to technology ensures all LASIK patients at Price Vision Group a completely tailored vision correction plan to their unique vision.

The Steps To A Customized LASIK Procedure At Price Vision Group:

Step 1: Custom Diagnostics - No two eyes are the same. Like your DNA or fingerprint, your vision is unique. Until now, your treatment was based on diagnostic technology similar to that used for the prescription of eyeglasses or contact lenses.

However, with Price Vision Group's addition of wave front technology, we can accurately scan a 3D image of your entire visual field, and customize a treatment plan for your unique vision imperfections – including those imperfections that cause poor night vision.

Step 2: Custom Flap Creation - With traditional LASIK with a microkeratome, your flap would be created using a blade that makes a general incision on a general portion of your eye.

With the WaveLight® FS200, the creation of the flap is pre-programmed based on the digital analysis of your corneal thickness and curvature, ensuring a flap that is customized to your unique corneal characteristics.

Step 3: Custom Vision Correction – All the diagnostic information gathered is programmed into the Allegretto Wave Excimer laser, and using its superior precision and optimized control, your custom treatment plan is administered with the greatest accuracy possible, for a completely custom vision procedure that will yield you your best possible visual result.

What are you waiting for? If you’re ready to bring your vision into the 21st century and beyond 20/20 vision, then call to schedule a comprehensive eye exam with the Price Vision Group Today!
