Conductive Keratoplasty (CK) in Indianapolis Indiana
Conductive
Keratoplasty (CKsm) is a vision procedure offered in Indiana by Dr. Price that uses radiofrequency
(RF) energy instead of a laser to reshape the contours of your eye.
By changing the way your cornea (the clear front surface of the
eye) focuses light, CK effectively treats farsightedness and Presbyopia.
This procedure in our Indianapolis office is considered by some to be an alternative to LASIK. If you've had great vision your entire life, but suddenly find yourself
needing reading glasses, this new, non-laser procedure can help
restore your clear, natural vision. It's an exciting advancement
in vision correction that offers new advantages such as:
* No cutting - helps minimize side effects and speed recovery
* Convenience and comfort - the procedure is performed in the office
* Fast treatment - procedures generally last between three and five
minutes
How CK Works
CKsm can change how the eye focuses light by reshaping the cornea
to treat farsightedness. CK uses a controlled release of radiofrequency
(RF) energy to heat and shrink the corneal tissue, which steepens
the cornea. This steepening results in the desired refractive effect.
Patient Information
The Refractec® ViewPoint™ CK System is for the temporary
reduction of the spherical hyperopia in patients who have 0.75 to
3.25 D of cycloplegic spherical hyperopia, less than or equal to
0.75 D of refractive astigmatism (minus cylinder format), and a
cycloplegic spherical equivalent of 0.75 D to 3.00 D. Patients must
be 40 years of age or greater with a documented stability of refraction
for the prior 12 months, as demonstrated by a change of less than
0.50 D in spherical and cylindrical components of manifest refraction.
The magnitude of correction with this treatment diminishes over
time, with some patients retaining some or all of their intended
refractive correction.
